This is a picture of a fern that I took on the Abbot School Nature Trail. This fern could be a Virgina Chain Fern or a Massachusetts Fern. See how the stem gets smaller as it goes up the fern? See how it is pointy at the ends and wide in the middle?

Moss
On the nature trail we saw Ragweed, some berries that were blue and purple and a Red Maple tree. We saw a lot of moss. It was in a lot of different colors like orange, green and brown. We saw Touch-me-nots . They are also called a Jewelweed . When you touch them they explode out their seeds. The picture is something that looks like lichen. I love the nature trail!
Jack in the Pulpit
Jack-in-the-Pulpit grows 9 inches to 2 and half feet tall. At first Jack-in-the-Pulpit is a greenish, yellowish color and when ripe, it turns into pretty scarlet berries. It blooms in April-June and will mostly be found in moist woods. We found it on the beginning of the Abbot trail.
