Berries

We went on the nature trail. We saw berries that were different types of colors. There were little tiny dots when I looked up close. I thought they were poisonous. The colors were blue , purple, and green. There were berries growing on leaves.  Some were big and small and the berries were everywhere.

The Abbot Nature Trail

On  Friday we went on a nature trail. We  saw a Touch-me-not. If you touch it it will turn into a spiral.  Then we went back further and we saw more Touch-me-nots. They have yellow flowers attached to them . I touched like 100 of them. They are cool! They look like a pea pod. They are also called Jewelweeds. I love that name for a flower! They like the wet soil to grow in.

Purple Crocus

We saw white and purple crocuses with orange in the middle. It is one of the first flowers to bloom in spring. They are at the beginning of the trail by the fence. We think they were planted because they aren’t wildflowers in this area. It is native to a large area from coastal to subalpine area of Central and southern Europe. You can see them on the trail. It’s open to everyone!

The Second Part of the Trail

This is the second part of the trail. Once we did an unnatural walk. There were nine things to try to find that didn’t belong on the trail. I found only one of them. My experience on the trail is that it is a lot of fun, but you have to be prepared to go on it. Once we found Jewelweed. When their pods are fat and when you touch them they shoot out at you!
